This seminar will explore the history of discriminating practices in NJ Land ownership. Beginning with the rights afforded to landholding vs non-landholding citizens. The rights of women to hold title to land and inherit real estate and the manner in which the African American community eventually gained emancipation and the ability to acquire property rights. We will also examine the continued institutionalized discrimination against people of color and immigrants through Deed restrictions and the abolishment of that practice under the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
3 Credit hours of Continuing Education (CIE & CLE) will be earned
