The Lenape, The Dutch & The English

Product Description

The history of Land Ownership and Speculation in New Jersey is integral to understanding its development as a Colony and a State. From the day that the first Proprietary Governor, Philip Carteret, set foot ashore at Elizabethtown, there have been serious title defects, claims, lawsuits and Land Riots. This seminar will deeply explore Native American land claims, The Elizabethtown Bill in Chancery, the establishment of the Boundary lines between neighboring states, the Proprietary System, East and West Jersey, the Quintipartite Line, confiscation of Loyalist lands after the revolution and most importantly how all of these events relate to our current system of land ownership.
